I am very practical - I like to do what works for my patients. I tell them that they need to believe in what they are doing and stick with the plan.

Most habits are formed by doing things habitually over 3 to 4 weeks. After that you tend to miss it. Plan to lose 1 -2 pounds a week. Anything more than this is water or bowel weight. That is why people "yo-yo" so much. If you can lose steadily then you will keep it off. Do not look at the scales but once a day at most - this is a long term thing - it's crazy to look at the scale more that that. Get a partner to keep you accountable. Good luck!
