How to Lose Weight for Spring Break

I know how you feel on this one. My daughter joined a new sport in the winter, and I gained 5 pounds! This sneaks up on a lot of us and it did on me.

What happened? I was splurging (an extra sweet or two) on a regular basis - more than I realized. I was inactive a lot more (hours of extra driving and sitting half the day in gyms). I was still exercising which kept my weight gain to just a few pounds.

Here's my plan to lose that winter weight:

1 - Drink a little more water.

2 - Snack on only healthy food (no splurges on snacks, but I can still have dessert at night).

3 - Increase my exercise intensity a little. For me, that's doing intervals on the treadmill - walking and jogging. (I was so tired in the winter, I was just walking. I can burn a few more calories by adding some jogging.)

4 - Have realistic weight loss goals. 1-2 pounds per week. So far I'm on track; I've been losing 1/2 pound a day.

Spring sunshine and warmer temperatures make us want to breathe fresh air as we exercise.
