How to Make a No-Fail Resolution to Lose Weight

Here's the secret - think small.

To be a BIG winner losing weight, you need to make one SMALL change at a time.

Everyone seems to want to lose weight for the New Year - even kids!

The mistake we all make is to change all our eating for a short time, lose the weight (if we can stick to it), then go back to our old lifestyle - because we really don't want to change what we're doing. That's a recipe for failure.

This year, let's have success.

Here's the key:
1 - Make only one New Year's Resolution this year.

2 - Make it very specific (not just to "lose weight")

Want to know my New Year's resolution? This is completely honest - to only eat dessert once a day. Now you know what a big sweet tooth I have! When you make up your mind to change a habit permanently, you'll keep off the weight you lose.

Cinnamon Pecan Granola

A Homemade Granola Recipe gets you off to a great start in the morning. Granola is also a great snack to keep you fueled throughout the day.

Every morning for breakfast, I eat granola mixed with no-fat greek granola and honey.

Buy the plain yogurt and mix in your own honey. (Many of the commercial brands also add other sugars you don't need.) Also, many people believe eating local honey can help with allergies. I don't know if it does, but I like to support local honey producers.

Setting the Wrong Goals?

Too many people want their body to look perfect. That's the wrong goal.

Change your mindset. Strive for a strong, healthy body.

1 - Let's remind ourselves that the "perfect" pictures we see in the media are airbrushed and sometimes assisted with surgery, too! To look good on tv, you have to be underweight. That's not our goal. We want to have a healthy weight - not underweight.

Not sure of your healthy weight range? Find it on a BMI (body mass index) chart, just like your doctor does.

2 - Focus on your strong points. That's what other people do when they see you. They look past your flaws and notice your small waist or great hair or striking smile. Let's make a goal to do the same thing!

When you look at yourself in the mirror this year, be continually thankful for YOUR best features.
